About the Role

The Senior Director, Marketing leads the management and execution of grant-funded marketing partnerships and campaigns that drive awareness and uptake of materials, resources, and trainings tailored for families, caregivers, and coach-mentors. As a leader in the Marketing & Communications department, the Senior Director partners with team members across departments to develop and maintain a digital platform that uses best practices in social and commercial marketing to scale the impact of the Foundation’s work by deepening engagement with the Foundation’s growing number of resources, tools, and trainings. The Senior Director also leads marketing operations including automation strategies, technology optimization, and analytics. A key responsibility of this position includes the project management and delivery of the recently announced Yes, Coach! marketing campaign by providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of all marketing components of the campaign, including responsibility for building and maintaining partner and funder relationships.

About the Team

The Marketing & Communications Department is responsible for shaping the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s brand, overseeing all external communications, and showcasing the organization’s work to engage key audiences. The Marketing and Communications Team is part of the Revenue Group and is critical to the positioning of the Foundation to external stakeholders, including corporate partners and individual donors. The Marketing & Communications Department works collaboratively with all other Departments to enhance their unique content, while ensuring the organization communicates a consistent narrative. The Marketing & Communications Department is responsible for organizational messaging and branding, program and organizational marketing strategies, digital strategy, media relations, speechwriting, thought leadership, storytelling, public event planning and execution, graphic design, video production, and annual individual campaigns.

Responsibilities

The Senior Director, Marketing core responsibilities include the following:

  • Leads strategy, planning, and execution of marketing campaigns that drive an increased uptake of the Foundation’s resources, tools, and training, including serving as an account director role for the recently launched Yes, Coach! campaign and future campaigns and projects.
  • Provides strategic oversight and guidance to Marketing team members who serve as account managers for marketing-related grants and projects.
  • Responsible for overseeing and delivering multiple marketing grant-related deliverables, including the production and dissemination of content to families, coach-mentors, and caregivers and the delivery of corporate events and activations, ensuring alignment with funder expectations and organizational goals.
  • Leads marketing operations including automation strategies, technology optimization, and analytics.
  • Designs and manages project management processes that facilitate timely and impactful delivery of marketing related grant initiatives.
  • Provides strategic oversight to address challenges and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in marketing program delivery.
  • Collaborates and works closely with Senior Director, Communications & Brand and Senior Director, Content, Education, and Training to ensure brand and programmatic alignment across deliverables.
  • Supports and advances the goals, mission, and culture of the U.S. Soccer Foundation.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

About You:

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, or another related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of professional experience in marketing or communications or a related field, with at least three to five years of leadership experience.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including copywriting and copyediting.
  • Proven project management experience, with success in ensuring marketing grant deliverables align with funder expectations and the organization’s strategic priorities.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects across a variety of departments with knowledge on how to conduct and identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in meeting marketing KPIs and goals.
  • Proven experience in serving as an account director, building and maintaining relationships with external funders to ensure the success of marketing-related grant deliverables.
  • Knowledge and experience working with marketing automation tools and content management systems such as Marketing Cloud and Salesforce as well as other marketing automation tools.
  • Strong management skills and attention to detail, and proven ability to develop and execute campaigns through completion.
  • Possesses a strong worth ethic, manage complex projects and timelines, and manage direct reports.
  • Committed to bettering the lives of children through sports-based youth development.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of schedule, inclusive of weekend and holiday travel, as needed.
